My name is Emily Warrior & I am a Yoga and Pilates practitioner and Teacher.
I discovered the world of yoga in the midst of my teenage angst years. For a long time I was struggling to cope with anxiety and depression, I was suffering with debilitating lower back pain, achy joints and tight shoulders. I began looking for ways to help myself because I felt so disconnected from myself and my body, I was done with allowing my uncontrollable mind control my life and I knew deep down that I wanted and deserved to be happy, I had felt lost for so long I craved to find myself again.
I started reading self-help books, going to therapy and began exercising regularly. I first discovered Pilates which was essentially my gateway in to Yoga. One day I was scrolling through the wonderful world of YouTube looking for a home-exercise video I could follow along too and I came upon a short Yoga video, I gave it a shot and I haven't looked back since...
All my life I had been told that I am 'too sensitive', that I needed to 'toughen up','you care too much' blah blah blah..
Thankfully, Yoga soon gave me the permission I needed to feel anything and everything that was present. Yoga gave me the space I needed to heal mentally, it allowed me to sit with all the joy, all the pain, all the love and heartbreak, to be really here in my body, instead of my mind. I felt so much stronger mentally and physically.
I quickly fell in love with the deep presence, mental clarity and physical power of the practice and in September 2019 I took a leap of faith and signed up for 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.
I embarked on this journey on my own, leaving my home, full-time job, friends & family behind for a month, which was super scary and exhilarating all at the same time.
Fast forward to the present day and I am thriving, living my wildest dreams and my mental health no longer controls me, all thanks to the power of Yoga and the belief I had in myself.
One of the main reasons why I took the leap in to the world of yoga and signed up for Teacher Training is to spread the joy, healing & freedom yoga brings to oneself, I want to help liberate you from aches and pains in your body & mind and create a safe, loving space for yourself, within yourself.
I only teach what I practice to stay authentic to the traditions of yoga, however it is my mission to bring Yoga to everyone and anyone from all walks of life which sometimes means honouring the ebbs & flows of life and it's cycles.
Whatever your goals are in your yoga practice, I want to show that you do not need to be flexible, have fancy equipment and a studio to practice yoga, the beauty of yoga is that all you need is yourself, some space to move your body and an open mind.
